Australia Has a New Data Center!

October 12, 2010
We are excited to announce the completion of negotiations and server setup procedures with a new data center facility located in Sydney, Australia, which is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

The data center is named Global Switch and is a part of a worldwide network of data centers. It's known for being so secure that the Australian Department of Defense has chosen to store several of its servers there. Currently, it is only available for shared web hosting customers and there will be no change in pricing for hosting accounts located there. Customers can select it during the purchase process of their web hosting account.

By default, each reseller under the Free Reseller Hosting Program will have the US Peer1 data center set as the default server facility for their web hosting customers. To switch to the new data center in Australia or one of the European data centers (BlueSquare near London or Bahnhof in Stockholm), a reseller needs to log into the Reseller Control Panel, go to the Store Settings section, select the Miscellaneous tab, scroll down to the Default Data Center menu and select their desired default data center.

You have the option to select a different data center for each reseller store within your account.
